Flea Control Does More Harm Than Good
More concern surfaces over the use of flea products containing toxins. Many animals are getting sick and even dying soon after the application of flea control.
The cause of many of these adverse reactions is liquid "spot on" flea control brought through supermarkets and pet stores.
Government statistics [2008] show over 1,200 deaths and 44,000 cases of serious reactions related to the use of store bought flea control.

"Within a half hour, all 5 of them were sick, agitated, throwing up, coughing," Desmond said.
Desmond was lucky, his dogs survived. Government figures show store-bought flea treatments caused 44,000 severe reactions in 2008, and there were 1,200 deaths reported. Symptoms are generally neurological in nature, often manafesting as seizure-like or druken symptoms.
If you find your animal reacting adversely after flea treatment take them to a vet, the lucky ones do respond to proper care.
Some of cause lies with pet owners according to some vets. People are not apply the flea control according manufacturing specifications. For example, a cat can NOT handle a product designed for a dog (even if it is a big cat and the product is for a small dog).
