Teachers Replaced By Dogs
Have you ever thought that the quality of education isn't what it used to be?
Or maybe it is a case of you pay bones and you get dogs?
Well whatever the cause, it now seems that your children may be getting taught by dogs.
Flagstaff Medical Center leads the field in the Paws to Read program. They claim that children's reading abilities improve as they gain confidence reading to dogs.
In a report by Carol Peck of The Arizona Republic she says:
- Often children have difficulties when reading aloud. Since the dogs listen and don't tease or judge the child, confidence levels increase. Paws to Read creates a positive, non-threatening, fun environment for children in both classrooms and public-library settings.
The 15 to 30 minute sessions each week are reported to have turned around the negative reading experiences of many children, and the activity at the library has picked up tremendously.
