What do you get the puppy who has everything?

According to Mattel, the answer is "Puppy Tweet."  An automated Twitter tool that allows your dog to tweet.

Yes that is right.   Your dog is in control.  When it barks or moves around, your puppy's very own electronic tag sends a signal to a usb controller, and via the skills of modern technology, this is translated to a tweet on your puppy's very own Twitter page.

Perfect for the Dog and owner who don't like to be separated.  Or for the dog who is seeking international fame and wants to get word out. 

Currently there are 500 pre-programmed tweets with Puppy Tweets.  Obviously Mattel is going keep these tweets fairly tame, not perhaps the thoughts that are actually going through your puppy's mind as it barks at the neighbour's cat, a passing dog, or chases the postman.  Nevermind what your dog thinks when chasing it's own tail, or licking various parts of it's anatomy. 

At the moment this is little more than a gimmick designed to part owners with their money.   Think, however, about the potential.  Dog Tweets Owner About Burglery In Progress or perhaps Dog Saves Burning House With SOS Tweet. 

It may take a little fine tuning and training before your dog can really control what it is tweeting, and no doubt there will be a few false alarms.  But it could be the neighbourhood watch of the future.  Animals controlling crime, alerting the world to disasters, and clogging the internet with mindless tweets.   Or even more scary, communicating between themselves to organise a global overthrow of the human tyrants ...
